Site!

This year they're letting the post grads show at site. So im getting stuff ready for the big School gala. At this stage it looks like two pastel works on a paper, and four works on canvas. Anyhow I photographed myself before heading out on the town with two of my works. I havn't titled these works yet. Something to think about.

Ive been thinking about face-paint, or rather painting faces as an expression of self, without using myself as a subject. Celebrating the diverse nature of my identity by adopting and then painting the faces of people who inspire me. In order to celebrate the diversity of a young identity, Ive been paying homage to my heros. I think painting in this way could be as much about fashioning a current style of communication, as it is about simply painting statements which say "Who I am"or "I am this". Their isnt anything fixed about my lanquage of communication as a painter, it works on percentages, eg what Im listening too, who Im looking at, what im wearing.
